Skivertex® 17 Production Guidelines
Skivertex 17 is a premium cover sheet featuring a rich, kidskin leather finish. The high latex content provides superior suppleness and excellent durability.
Standard Material
Caliper | Basis Weight (20" x 26"/500 sheets) |
.017”/0,432 mm | 138 lb/374 gsm |
.025”/0,635 mm | 199 lb/537 gsm |
Screen Printing
Skivertex 17 yields excellent results when screen printed. Aqueous and solvent based inks are recommended. As with any process, inks should be tested prior to production. Use screen mesh sizes as recommended by ink manufacturer.
Drying Time
Due to the nature of acrylic coatings, there is no substrate absorbency to improve ink set and drying time. When applied to a nonporous surface, they require longer to dry.
Foil Stamping and Embossing
Skivertex 17 is ideally suited to foil stamping and embossing. Consult your foil supplier and/or embosser for additional testing samples and more information.
Cutting and Die-cutting
Skivertex 17 can be guillotine, rotary or die cut. All normal steel ruled die cutting processes may be used on Sedona. It can be cleanly punched and will readily accept all conventional fasteners, such as grommets in one or two pieces, sewing, etc.
Adhesives
Glues should be tested prior to production. Consult with your glue supplier.
Scoring and Folding
Skivertex 17 scores and folds well and has excellent hinge/fold characteristics.
