“Heroes,” in the customary sense of the term, usually applies to individuals who have risen above and beyond expectations to achieve something extraordinary and meaningful, often courageous. But heroic actions aren’t always connected to events on a field of battle or a split-second, lifesaving decision. In a broader sense, “heroes” can be everyday people doing everyday things, but in ways that add meaning and substance to our lives.

Here at FiberMark, our “FiberMark Heroes” program is a way for us to identify and recognize people—employees, colleagues, customers and friends—who have gone beyond normal parameters to achieve something meaningful to us, to them and to the world at large. It doesn’t need to be headline news. Instead it might be a group of employees working quietly behind-the-scenes on behalf of the environment . . . or artists and designers imagining new and exciting uses for our wide range of products . . . or customers whose commitment to quality and excellence inspire us to be better than we are.
